Thomas Magnum
(Tom Selleck) is a Private Investigator who works as part of
a security team in the palatial mansion of millionaire
businessman Robin Masters. Using his luxurious surroundings
as his base, Magnum runs a daily battle with various
criminals as he seeks to track them down and report their
illicit activities. However, he also faces a constant battle
with the caretaker of Masters' estate, Jonathan Higgins
(John Hillerman), particularly when Magnum zooms off in the
308 GTS Ferrari that has been left at his disposal! It all
adds up to an action packed show from the early 1980s that
manages to capture much of the fashion and excesses of the
decade. This release presents the first season in its
entirety, with Selleck masterful as the mustachioed P.I.
throughout! |

Hawaiian-set
detective program MAGNUM P.I. was a huge hit during the 1980s,
finishing in the top 20 shows during the first five seasons it
aired. Tom Selleck, who won an Emmy in 1984 for his
performance, plays Thomas Magnum, a Vietnam Vet who retires
from the military and moves to the Pacific islands to start a
private detective agency. His allies include a couple of army
buddies who also live on the islands, and proper former
British army officer Jonathan Higgins, caretaker of the
mansion where Magnum stays and foil to Magnum's fun-loving
ways. In SEASON TWO, Magnum and the other characters were
further developed over the 22 episodes, which included guest
stars such as Vera Miles, Tyne Daly, Pat Morita, and others. A
deft combination of action and mystery coupled with Selleck's
humorous and charismatic performances, MAGNUM P.I. is one of
television's most entertaining detective shows. |
